ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Richard G. Smart

Richard G. Smart began this journey in 1989, while working on a Degree in Business Administration. A Research Project he began on order to graduate led to his discovery of the power of the mind. He tells his story in his own words.

“Because I had been involved in Direct-Selling, and had seen so many sales people come and go, I decided to do research on ‘Why Direct Salespeople Quit Their Jobs.’ I began an in-depth research of Motivation; in essence, why do we do what we do. I studied Dr. Norman Vincent, Zig Zigler, Brian Tracy, Dr. Dennis Waitley, Dr. Robert Schueller, Jim Rohn, W. Clement Stone, and Napoleon Hill, to name a few. In the course of this research, I discovered a concept that I began to internalize and use to empower my mind. In the process I also learned some techniques which enhanced my selling abilities. As I began to utilize what I had learned and implement these techniques, I found myself having great success in selling. In fact, within a short period of time, I became the number one salesperson in the company I was working for!”

“I share this because my mind, through the implementation of powerful techniques, was helping me to reach levels of success that I had never reached before. I was so excited that I introduced similar materials and techniques to other people, as they, to, began to have success!”

The materials taught by the Positive Thinking Institute are based on solid principles that implement internal change, which come as a result of adjusting our mindset, focusing on new mental programming, and staying true to the process until success is reached; long-term success is reached.

Richard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Grant W. and Lucille Smart. He and his wife of 32 years, Mary Lue, have four children and two grandchildren. They enjoy doing things together as a family. They currently live in Centerville, Utah.
